Solo se vive una vez (2017) - Argentine Movie

Comedy, Action movie

Starring Peter Lanzani, Pablo Rago, Dario Lopilato, Eugenia Suarez and Gerard Depardieu

First things first: the movie can be watched over here. Unfortunately it does not come with English or Spanish subtitles.

It is an Argentine movie, with Gerard Depardieu guest starring - he is internationally best known as Obelix from the Asterix & Obelix movies.

Two conman (Peter Lanzani & Eugenia "China' Suarez) film someone's murder during one their shenanigans. As witnesses they must fly the scene, but only one of them is able to get away. The guy (Peter Lanzani) ends up dressing up as a Jewish, jeshiva student in order to reach his brother, and ask for help.

During the movie it wasn't made completely clear who were the bad guys or why they were after him, but it doesn't really matter. This movie mostly has comical moments mixed with plenty of action scenes. Maybe the film has too many fight scenes... There seems to be quite a lot of running around, fighting going on with people being kidnapped and saved on the side.

It's one of those movies that has people running around with funny dialogues thrown into the mix here and there. However, those dialogues are only funny if you can understand the fast paced Argentine spoken. Which admittedly I was struggling with...

Additionally, it's quite clear that the scriptwriters were influenced by the French movie - The adventures of Rabbi Jacob (1973) - starring Louis de Funes. That movie had a similar plot with someone dressing up as rabbi in order to get away from a crime scene. It also ends with a proposal happening on screen...

To summarize it: it's a one-time move, I wouldn't recommend it for a re-watch no matter the list of internationally known actors. It's a 6/10 for me. Maybe if I have seen it with English subtitles, I would have a different opinion.
